Learn UI/UX Design Through Real Project Work

We teach interface design the way it's actually practiced. You'll work through genuine design challenges, build a portfolio of work you're proud of, and understand how design decisions affect real users.

What Makes Our Approach Different

Most courses teach theory and tools. We focus on the thinking process behind good design decisions. You'll learn why certain patterns work, when to break conventions, and how to validate your choices with actual users.

Project-Centred Learning

From week one, you're working on design briefs similar to what agencies handle. Each project introduces new concepts whilst building on what you've already learned. By month three, you'll redesign an existing product with real accessibility and usability constraints.

Research Before Pixels

Good design starts with understanding people. You'll conduct user interviews, analyse competitor products, and create personas based on actual research. We spend considerable time on this because it shapes everything that follows.

Iterative Design Practice

Your first design won't be your final one. That's expected. You'll sketch multiple solutions, get feedback from peers and instructors, test with users, and refine based on what you learn. This mirrors how professional teams actually work.

Portfolio Development

Each major project becomes a case study for your portfolio. We'll help you document your process, explain your decisions, and present your work in a way that demonstrates your thinking to potential employers or clients.

Twelve Months From Fundamentals to Portfolio

Our programme runs for one year, starting July 2026. It's structured to take you from basic principles through to confident, independent design work. The pace is demanding but manageable if you can dedicate evenings and weekends.

We meet twice weekly for live sessions, plus you'll have access to recorded lectures and design critiques. Between sessions, you'll work on your projects and participate in peer reviews with other students.

  • Live instruction twice weekly with working designers
  • Four major portfolio projects plus smaller assignments
  • Access to design tools and research participants
  • Portfolio review and career guidance in final term
  • Ongoing access to course materials after completion

Experience From Recent Students

We asked Aoife to share what her year with us was like and what surprised her most about learning design.

Completed Programme 2025

"I expected to spend most of my time in Figma making things look nice. Instead, probably half the course was about understanding users and testing ideas. That was initially frustrating because I wanted to jump straight to designing interfaces."

What changed Aoife's perspective was her third project, redesigning a local charity's donation flow. Her initial design looked clean but performed poorly in user testing. After watching people struggle with navigation she thought was obvious, she went back to research and created something simpler that actually worked. She now works as a junior designer at a digital agency in Bristol, where that research-first mindset has proven valuable. The projects she completed during the programme formed the core of her portfolio.

Ready to Begin Your Design Education?

Our next cohort begins in July 2026. Spaces are limited to maintain quality of instruction and peer feedback. We recommend reviewing the full programme structure before applying.

Check Prerequisites

You don't need design experience, but you should be comfortable with computers and willing to learn new software.

Attend Information Session

We hold monthly online sessions where you can ask questions and hear from current students about their experience.

Submit Application

Applications for July 2026 open in February. We'll review your background and discuss your goals during a brief video call.
